Explanation of Mesh Count Terminology:
Take woven wire mesh for examples:

1" Opening = a 1" opening, measured from
inside wire edge to inside wire edge. -
1" Mesh = a 1" measurement from
center to center of wire. -
2 Mesh = a total of 2 equal openings
within a 1" measurement, from center to center of wire.
